Unnati – Skill Development Centre (SDC)

About

Unnati (उन्नति), meaning progress and advancement, reflects the core purpose of the Skill Development Centre at Jesus and Mary College—to support the holistic growth of students by integrating knowledge with practical skills, values with employability, and education with real-life application.

Rooted in the College motto “Thou art light, fill me with Thy light” , Unnati seeks to illuminate pathways that empower young women with confidence, competence, and clarity of purpose. The Centre functions as a bridge between academic learning and the world of work , enabling students to acquire relevant skills alongside their formal education.

Unnati aligns closely with the Skill India Mission, which aims to prepare India’s youth for meaningful employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning by creating a learner-centric and demand-driven skill ecosystem

The Centre also draws strength from the digital and credential-based framework of the Skill India Digital Hub, ensuring access to trusted skill certification, industry linkage, and employment discovery platforms
